Q. Do my photos have to be professional?
Although appealing, high-quality photos are likely to increase your sales, professional photos are not required. We do, however, require that photos meet certain technical standards, such as 200 dpi resolution for printing purposes
Q. How do I know if my photo is at least 200dpi?
You can check your photo’s resolution by looking at the Properties info of the image file. If your photo is less than 200 dpi, you will need to re-scan it at higher resolution or mail it to us. if you are not familiar with dpi, then make sure your photo still looks good at 2300x3600, if not then your photo is not of good enough quality
Q. My photo looks good online without any flaws, can I use it for my products?
Most online photos have a resolution of 72 dpi to save file space. While these may look good on screen, they will likely appear “messy” when reproduced in print form for our products. This is why MPA requires a resolution of 300 dpi or higher
Q. What if my photo is not 200 dpi?
You can mail the original photo to MPA and we will scan the photo in the proper resolution.
Q. My photos are only 72dpi can I save it as 200dpi?
Photos cannot be saved to a higher resolution. You can either rescan the original photo or mail the photo to MPA for scanning.
Q. What can I sell if my photos are not high resolution (200dpi)?
With low resolution photos, you will be limited to selling screen savers and cell phone wallpapers. You may also purchase custom stamps.
Q. What sets MPA apart from other model portfolio sites?
MPA is much, much more than a model portfolio site. In essence we are a marketing firm for models. We help models to promote themselves by providing tools and info. Even better, we offer models an exclusive opportunity to realize earnings by selling products featuring their images! We are the first and only site dedicated to helping models earn income while promoting their career.
Q. How do I get paid for what I earn through the site?
Payments are made via PayPal.
Q. How often are payments sent?
Once profits are requested from your admin area, your payment will be processed during the next profits distribution cycle. Profits are paid our once a month on all earnings in excess of $20.
Q. How much can I earn?
Your earnings potential is unlimited. The amount you can earn will depend on many factors, such as your marketing efforts, appeal as a model, quality and appeal of photos, sales prices, etc. If you just make one sale a day with a modest profit of $5 a sale, then you will have made more than 7 times the the monthly cost of membership! For a chart of potential sale numbers see the image promotion/merchandising link in the main navigation.
Q. How much should I sell my products for?
This will be a testing process. You want to provide a valuable product to your customer, which means high quality at a reasonable price. While low prices will offer a lower profit margin but a high turnover of sales, higher prices will afford greater profit margins but perhaps lower sales. We suggest aiming for a 20-30% profit margin on your products (although some models make as much as 60%-100%). Increase your profit margin slowly, noting any decline in sales. For example, if you what a 30% profit margin, multiply the product cost by 1.3 (example: poster cost $10, $10 x 1.3= $13, then $13 will be your sales price and your profit will be $3). You may also shoot for an absolute dollar amount, such as a $5 profit per product. You can charge as much as the market will bear for your products, but keep substitutions and competition in mind!
Q. What is the recommended file type and size
We recommend you upload PNG files. make sure the size is less than 7MB
